A Typical Day

Our typical days have changed dramatically over the last couple of weeks. The reason being... our little "angel" of a dog, Desi. Let's take a quick look at how dramatic these changes have actually been.

BEFORE DOG:-soundless nights sleep
-sleeping in until JUST before it is absolutely necessary to drag out of bed
-Eat breakfast and pack a lunch
-Get ready for the day
-Leave for work JUST before it is absolutely necessary to do so
-Lunch break: watch a couple episodes of "the office" while eating lunch... sometimes running a few essential errands or reading a book at the park.
-Get home from work and make dinner
-Do dishes and get other "stuff" (bills, errands, etc.) done
-Relax with the hubs... watch some TV... maybe go on a walk
-Stay up late and blog (sometimes)
-Sleepy sleep.... and it starts all over again

AFTER DOG:
-wake up numerous times throughout the night to let the dog do her "business"
-drag sleepy butt out of bed and feed the dog
-while the dog is distracted quickly eat breakfast... stopping multiple times to redirect the dogs attention to its food bowl
-take the dog out yet again for a potty break
-clean up doggy doo doo
-put the dog back in the kennel for long enough to quickly get ready for the day
-pack the dog supplies (it seriously looks like a diaper bag)
-pack a lunch
-let the dog out ONE LAST TIME-pack the car with the kennel, dog supplies and lunch
-drive the dog to the families house (thank you Becky and Ashlee!!!)
-Let the dog out again
-Go to work
-Lunch break: Let the dog out, play with her for a while, quickly eat lunch
-Go back to work
-Jerry gets off work and picks up the pup
-Play with dog until she is too tuckered out to chew everything to pieces.
-Work on kennel training etc.
-Feed dog dinner
-Make our own dinner while keeping a close eye on the dog to make sure she doesn't shred the rugs, chew the furniture, rip up the carpet (seriously... why?) or get into anything else she probably shouldn't
-Let dog out
-Move kennel into bedroom
-Put doggy to bed
-Stay up late getting "stuff" done
-drag sleepy butt back into bed
And it starts all over again......
and yes.... it is worth it... I think...

My puppy is now about 7 months old. What I can tell you so far is the sleep gets better as they get older, just like babies they eventually sleep through the night. But the destruction NEVER ENDS!!! At least not at my house. But you are very right...it is very worth it! Good luck!

It really is like having a baby. Only with teeth. Good luck! In the meantime, can we come and visit so the girls can get their dog fix in AND so we don't have to go through all of that crap ourselves?? Thanks!
